CODE
THE NEW DAWN
as one era ends, another one begins
it is time for us to ask, who is the real enemy? the mutants? or
us, the humans? we locked them up because we fear what they
are. we used them because of what they can do that we cannot.
we said it was for the good of society, but now society has turned
on us. our summer of lies has backfired. we have lost the battle.
but we have not lost the war. not by a long shot.
the mutants think that because of what we have done, they are
now privy to the same rights we have. they think because of our
blundering, they will be seen as the victims. but they are not.
we are the victims. every day we must live in fear of retaliation
from the mutants. every day we must relive the mistakes of the
past. first it was the cure, then it was the shape shifters. it is
high time that we looked for another way to rid ourselves of the
mutant problem. after all, isn't that the one thing we agree on?
we tried to help the mutants. we failed. we tried to use them to
further our own cause. again, we failed. our people are divided
because of these actions. the mutants are divided on how they
should respond to those actions. i say screw them all. why play
nice when everyone knows just how we feel? we hate mutants.
i say it's time we played up that card. it's time we found a way
to get rid of them once and for all. i'm sure you all agree, right?
we once called the cure hope. i think the name fits it. it may
not be hope for the mutants, but it is hope for us humans. my
dear friends of humanity, the cure is going to be turned into
a disease. it will attack the mutant gene, mutants will die,
and we cannot be blamed for it. how can we, when we were the
ones to get rid of the cure in the first place? at their request. if
there is something in the water, it's through no fault of our own.
hope is a beautiful thing, is it not?
