Lyla Michelle Wynters is a seventeen-year old student at Donovan Academy. Her birthday is September 9th. She likes males. She grew up here in Worcester, Vermont. Lyla is an Equitas. She believes the Donovans need to be stopped before they completely destroy the school and wreak havoc on the world.




Lyla is, in short, a do-gooder. She sees the best in people and knows everyone has a little good in them. Maybe it's because of how she was raised, but Lyla wants to help those who have "lost their way," as her mother says. Lyla is sweet, caring, and bubbly. However, she can also be a pushover. Because she wants the best for people, some people could easily take advantage of her kindness. She's gotten more assertive as she's gotten older (thanks to standing up to Donovan 2 for her friends), but Lyla is still a softie.

She really hates it when people are two-faced and spiteful just to be spiteful. Those are probably the only type of people she has little sympathy for. If someone absolutely refuses to be good, it's no longer her job or desire to change them. Lyla also doesn't like fighting. Unfortunately, she can feel a war just around the block so she will have no choice but to support her friends and help in any way she can. Her power isn't exactly the fighting type so she's not much use in battle.

Lyla loves to read, swim, shop, go to the movies - the typical teenage things to do. She's also a hopeless romantic. She loves curling up in bed with popcorn and watching cheesy chick flicks. Lyla has a habit of playing with her hair when she's nervous or bored.




Lyla Wynters was born to Isaac and Gabriella Wynters seventeen years ago. Isaac and Gabriella met at Donovan Academy when they were both fifteen. They became fast friends and eventually lovers, marrying each other seven years later. Isaac is a healer, and he went into the career of medicine, becoming a doctor. Gabriella has the power of emotion manipulation and she became a psychologist. They both use their powers for their profession. This taught Lyla that she must use her powers for good to make a difference in the world.

Lyla is an only child. Gabriella and Isaac were only able to have one child. Something went wrong with Gabriella's uterus after she had Lyla. They weren't too upset with this news, though. To them, this meant they could give Lyla all the love and attention she wanted. Although her parents are wealthy, they taught Lyla the importance of earning material items by doing chores and following the rules. Lyla wasn't as spoiled as other only children.

At age 10, her parents discovered she possessed the power of empathy. They waited until she was fourteen before enrolling her into Donovan Academy. She had no problem making friends there and she was eager to develop and control her power. It wasn't until a couple years ago that Lyla noticed a significant change in the atmosphere of Donovan Academy. Things soon seemed darker. Last year, Lyla, when eavesdropping, learned of the Headmaster's plan to overthrow the goverment and wage war on the nation. He was building an army within the school. Looking around the school, Lyla was able to pick out who was hypnotized or supportive of Professor Donovan.

She decided he had to be stopped. After talking with friends and teachers with whom she was close, Lyla formed Equitas, a group designed to keep the peace and defeat the Purists. That was when the school really became divided.

Though Lyla is fortunate to have a good childhood, it's not perfect; nothing is. She argues with her parents just like any other teenager. Her parents still think there's nothing wrong with Donovan Academy; after all, when they attended the Academy, everything was peaceful. She can't tell her parents what's going on and the Equitas' plan to stop the Purists because they might keep her from getting involved. But, it involves everyone at Donovan Academy now.




EMPATHY - ability to read or sense the emotions and/or control the emotions or feelings of others.

Lyla can read people's current emotions by simply touching them. She can also make people feel a certain emotion by touching them. For example, last year when SAMPSON sat next to her in class, she accidentally brushed her hand against his for a split second. In that second, she felt an overwhelming sadness which consumed her. Later, she grabbed his hand and put forth happiness and relief. They slowly became really close after that encounter.

She's controlled her power enough to keep from manipulating someone's emotion by touching him/her when she doesn't want to manipulate it. However, she can't seem to "turn off" feeling one's emotion whenever she touches him/her. Sometimes this gives her terrible mood swings depending on who she touches. She can feel angry or sad in an instant. Currently, she's trying to store the emotion in the back of her mind as soon as she stops touching the person who gives off the emotion. This will allow her to control her own emotions no matter what emotion one gives off.

Lyla also got a little bit of her dad's power. Though she can't heal anyone, she heals faster than others. She found this out when she was twelve and broke her leg. It healed after a week.
